African Adventure - Black and White, 1997

The printed photo scanning session continues.  I have many an old trip to blog about!
This adventure started in Ghana and ended in South Africa.
My lovely home in Northern Ghana - door on the left.  The local was often dried on the rooftops.  The goats would find a way up and gobble up the goods. Branches and steep steps were used to try and stop them from hopping about.

The village gang

The Houssain twins - ever helpful.
After many months in Ghana, it was time to go adventuring further afield.  The route was: Cote D' Ivoire, Burkina Faso, Mali, Niger, then flying to Ethiopia and Tanzania before travelling by bus and train down the coast to Cape Town.
Mali was lovely. My friend Laura and I went on a two week guided hike to visit the Bandiagara Escarpment in the Dogon Country.  We met many wonderful people, experiencing some of the driest heat and dehydration we could imagine.  Above, the not so lucky twins.
Timbuktu.  We traveled there by boat.  We suffered along the way, but it was amazing.
 Niger - beautiful, kind women

A visit with Lynnie and Nana in Tanzania was a lovely way to pause for the Christmas holidays before completing the adventure through Zimbabwe and SA.

It is good to reminisce (had to look up the spelling). You look as though you enjoyed your working holiday.
