MegaDob's 36th

Birthday cake

Fancy dress (?) at the Librewery for Birthday beers

Birthday babies

More Birthday babies with the Birthday Dad

A pic of Tilly - she packs a punch and got us thrown out of the Librewery on Saturday afternoon. They let Dob, Sav and Mac back in on Sunday when they heard Nonno and Tilly were safely down the road - but only just.

And a glimpse of my necklace from megadob.  Sav said of it the other day:  "On the day that you die, can you please make sure you are not wearing the necklace.  You have promised it to me and if you are going to go into the sky or the ground, I don't want you to take the necklace with you."
Visitors - leave your finery at home.

The Worst Jet Lag. Ever.

One night at about 2am Savvy decided to go to battle and put into practice some impressive psychological warfare.  She would not sleep and it was a few nights in from our return from Canada, so we were insisting that she go back down with no playing, tv or snacks.  Dob ran point and was in for a 3 hour epic.  The things Savage hollered from her room, swapping between wild maniac and calm cute kitty:

1.      SAVAGE:  I AM VERY VERY VERY ANGRY.  I AM GOING TO COME OUT AND POKE YOU IN THE EYE!!!
2.        kitty: daddy, daddy daddy.  Please let me out of the room.  I want to give you a cuddle. I love you.
3.      SAVAGE: DAD. DAD. DAD?  ANSWER ME!!!! YOU ARE VERY VERY NAUGHTY.  I AM SO SO SO MAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAD.
4.        kitty: daddy. Oh daddy. I am so very hungry.  My tummy is rumblin’. It’s rumblin daddy.  Please let’s have a snack.
5.      SAVAGE: I AM GOING TO COUNT TO THREE AND THEN KICK YOU.  ARE YOU READY? (pause) ONE (pause) TWO (pause) THREE.  DADDY I WANT OUT SO I CAN KICK YOU. LET ME OUT!!!
And my favourite:
6.        kitty: mommy. mommy can you hear me? Do you know what your husband is doing? Do you? Do you? Help me, please. Help.

And yes, sav, I can hear the whole ordeal as I am awake in our room with Mackinley who is also screaming the night away since:
-          he has jet lag too
-          he has a cold
-          he cries when his sister cries, the sensitive wee lad

When Dob finally made it to bed, he said: Did that just happen?  I didn’t answer because I was too busy making the list of neighbours we had to visit in the morning to make sure they knew we weren’t torturing our four year old. awkward.

So, yes uncle rick, there is plenty of room on “the boat” for Dads!

Eight nights gone and we are only just starting to crack it. Good times.

Canada - You Thought we Were Finished!

I thought Canada pics were finished too. But then Dame Buttercup slagged me off for shutting her out of the blog glory, and I had to come good (see above - very fun if too short drinks evening). This made me realise that we also didn't have a picture of the lovely Kumi on the blog as our overlap with her and Baby R was very short (on account of her being busy with nursing school and kicking butt in her programme). She is below playing cards with the munchkins.

This picture above is about managing expectations. We tried to find hot and sour everywhere. But no joy. Sorry Nonno :(

Cute honorary Japanese-Scottish lad with his cousin.

Cindy, as we call him (Cinderella) -the cook and obsessive cleaner in the house).

The cute ones. But missing out on Team Tipping and the other two Dobson lots. Could we get them all together one day!?

My shiny necklace

My 10 Year celebration necklace from MegaDob has been a huge hit with the kids.

When Savvy has her eye on something, she often says:

"When I'm an adult and you are done with [enter precious item], can I have it?"
Aunt Lynnie got a lot of this with her clothes.
We often answer without thinking much, just glad she'd not trying to take it from us now:
"Of course.  No problem.  I'll save it for you."

With my necklace, she asked the above question and I said:
"Well, you can certainly burrow it for special occasions."
Then there was a long pause and -true story, with Glen as my witness-, Savvy said, quite carefully and softly:
"When are you going to die?"
I knew where this was headed, I'm no monkey. But I thought I would play along:
"Not for ages Savvy, all going well.  Not for years and years and years."
Long pause.  Then from Savvy:
"Well, [making a jeez I wish it was sooner face], when you do die, can I have your necklace?"

At least Mac is plain and simple about the necklace.  He is hypnotised by the shininess and just tries to rip it off.   Either way, I think I need to watch my back when I sleep.  Oh wait, we are all so massively jet lagged - there is no sleep!

Canada Wrap Up

We had a great time in Canada and were lucky to miss out on floods of rain in Scotland.
Savvy is missing her cousins and Mac is missing Uncle Chris' organic baby food.
Glen and I are missing all the baby sitters!
Lastly, Nana's surgery went well despite the agony. Hope it heals well Nana. Thanks for sharing Casa Howard with the Scottish troops.

Nana Down

Nana had a bad fall the other day and shattered her wrist. She's pictured here on an evening pass out from the hospitol. Today she had her surgery and we hope she'll be home tomorrow for some R&R.

Meanwhile, another cast is being made. After waiting patiently for a year, Aunt Lynnie deems Savvy old enough to sit still long enough for a face mask. A work still in progress.

Marco...

...Polo.
Just a few picks from the fun and games in Nana's pool.

Always stylish in the double swim suit combo with the one from Nana underneath and the one from Nonna using one shoulder strap only. Yes, it was intentional.

Three amazing sleeps

Three amazing sleeps chez Shark and Ty's cabin on the BC coast - many a picture in the blogs that follow and so many more that could have been posted. It was a perfect trip. Ok - we lost a derailer on one of the rides and went through quite a few barf bibs for Mac, but otherwise...
Three dinners out on the deck with both kids out for the count. Bliss.

Shark and I headed out in our Johnnies...
...and came back the way in suits only.

The boys had their shot on the stand up boards too.

Deck time. Lovely. Thank you Shark and Ty!
