Martinique-- Mac Ride!

We'll leave the bulk of our Mac Riding adventure reporting for the business, but suffice it to say, we're always happy to have a Mac Ride with us on our travels!

Martinique-- Presqu'ile de la Caravelle

Over on the east coast of Martinique, there is an "almost island" with a beautiful park for hiking and biking. It was hard to pack enough water for these hot marches, but the kids just kept begging for more and more. "Extra walks, please, and longer ones too!" they shouted.

There were giant, rather creepy lobster/hermits that crawled out of big holes along the path. They were there a plenty, and goodness knows what was lurking in the mangroves, not just an alleychat!

We stopped for a lovely swim on the way home. And an ice cream too.

Martinique-- Pains Au Chocolat Line Ups

How to get the perfect pain au chocolat line up shot in 4 easy steps.

1. Find the best patisserie in each town you visit.
2. Commit to eating two a day.
3. Bully everyone into team uniforms and line up position.
3. Stuff your face.
4. Take a lot of pics.

The Martinique "flag" on our sleeves- it was "everywhere".

Martinique-- St Anne

We stopped in St. Anne on the way home from les Salines for a much needed gelato and some bikini shopping. Lovely wee town.

Martinique-- Grande Anse Macabou et les Plages des Salines

Down at the Southern most end of Martinique, we walked part of a trail along the coast, which goes all the way to les Salines. It was beautiful. And HOT.

Martinique-- Grande Anse D'Arlet

One late aft, we were hit by a maxi rain storm. A bit unlucky as we were hanging about to have dinner in our fave restaurant, Ti Sable, and were soaked/chilled for the meal.

Monkeys broke out of the zoo.

Best pina coladas ever.

Martinique-- Grande Anse Noire et les Tortues

This beach with black sand was right beside our favourite beach with white sand.
It was worth the early start and special 2km drop into the valley to go for a swim avec les tortues.

There weren't millions of them just swimming around us in circles, so worth an underwater dab to catch a turtle on film.

Martinique-- Villa Number 2 and in and Around les Trois Ilets

We had a stunning view at the villa for our second week, further south in the more touristy parts of Martinique. Many outdoor meals (pesto, anyone!?), and fun game nights.

The bar is OPEN!

The amazing barista/bartender is in the background, above. But he's sadly not the-man-who-brought-home-fish-to-cook.
The kids played for hours in the pool. Sav and Mia invented a new wrestling game (?).

We also ate out a lot. Delicious meals and cocktails.

The ice creams were heavenly.

Our local beach was a corker. The water was so easy to walk into.
Mount Pelee in the background (rare to see it to the peak; usually it's smothered in cloud).
Mac went nutso with his francais on the trip. He told everyone he spoke only French. Yet, he struggled to keep up with this wee fellow how also (and truly) only spoke French.
