Stanley Park Fun

Having to keep the kids busy, soaking up the sunshine, to distract them from tomorrow's Easter Egg Hunt mania.  Oh, the anticipation!

Family Hair Cuts

The entire clan booked in for a home hair cut.  After longing for a fringe for quite some time, it was Sav that went for the biggest change.  Stay tuned for pics with the finished product.

Nana Gets an Upgrade

Now THAT's a walker!

A few pics of our Dad on the Howard/Hogg Side

Mr Frank Hogg - he was a bit of a goofball....
I think this was on the polar bear swim day  in December at English Bay.  Brrrr.

With beard.
This is Dad in his favourite chair.

Why did no one tell me that I looked like a boy for all those years?  And WHAT was the photographer thinking with the tie over the shoulder?  Not as bad as the one with Dad and Chris where my brother is in red suspenders and leaning cheekily on to a fake studio bus stop!
I think we are out for dim sum.  Or maybe at the Arbutus Club.  Either way, those were two of his favourite places.

Easter Sunshine

The munchkins have enjoyed the Easter holidays.  Sav's been off school but had one week of gymnastics camp at Yaletown Jump.  Mac has kept seeing Jalena during the break which means we've had even more time with Sav.

Heads up, Sav! This one's for the last 2 years of battering, squishing, teasing and pinching!
Never one to take it too far...
Great parks nearby.  Nana can get out with her walker and do her rehab while the kids play circus in the middle.
Ready?
Getting closer to cartwheel heaven...
Evening stroll for some groceries for the morning.  Nana likes white bread. And it's gotta be from Cobbs.
Lunch date with aunt lynnie.
This is what happens after all that outdoor play.  They are so knocked out, one sleeps virtually upside down and another in a box.  Yes, hand in jammies.  Why not?

African Adventure - Black and White, 1997

The printed photo scanning session continues.  I have many an old trip to blog about!
This adventure started in Ghana and ended in South Africa.
My lovely home in Northern Ghana - door on the left.  The local was often dried on the rooftops.  The goats would find a way up and gobble up the goods. Branches and steep steps were used to try and stop them from hopping about.

The village gang

The Houssain twins - ever helpful.
After many months in Ghana, it was time to go adventuring further afield.  The route was: Cote D' Ivoire, Burkina Faso, Mali, Niger, then flying to Ethiopia and Tanzania before travelling by bus and train down the coast to Cape Town.
Mali was lovely. My friend Laura and I went on a two week guided hike to visit the Bandiagara Escarpment in the Dogon Country.  We met many wonderful people, experiencing some of the driest heat and dehydration we could imagine.  Above, the not so lucky twins.
Timbuktu.  We traveled there by boat.  We suffered along the way, but it was amazing.
 Niger - beautiful, kind women

A visit with Lynnie and Nana in Tanzania was a lovely way to pause for the Christmas holidays before completing the adventure through Zimbabwe and SA.

Mac Helps Dob Build the Bed

 Complete with plumber's bum
It was going well until Dob started slacking. Mac asked Mega to pull his weight and it all ended in tears.

Play Date with the Twins

Park.  Boat. Park.  More Park.  Lovely.

"PLAY!!!"

This is what Mac shouts every morning as he struts into our room at 6am: PLAY!!!
And this morning, he accessorised.  It was pretty hard to resist.

See? Nana is OK!

Home tomorrow.  Nana says: thanks everyone for the nice well wishes!

Shark Attack!

Dun-dun! dun-dun! dun-dun-dun-dun-dun-dun-dun, da-na-na!
This is MegaDob and Sav's latest game in Nana's pool, played with the help of an underwater-rocket-launching-glow-in-the-dark shark (obviously)

Safe, back on shore in calmer times at the arts and crafts table.
