Wendy Dobson: 28 July 1940 - 7 July 2010

The family is devastated by the sudden loss of Wendy Dobson – daughter, sister, wife, auntie, grandmother, friend, and, of course, Mum to Rick, Chris, Andrea and Glen. Wendy was so many things to so many people. Some of the highlights from RobDobHow:

- Wendy was so generous with all of her friends and family, always tucking away little treats and thoughtful gifts. When we look around our flat, so much of what surrounds us has come from John and Wendy, including most of Savvy’s wardrobe.
- She made the best tartiflette in the world.
- Wendy had a passion for adventure and loved to travel, leading on the planning and orienteering for all of her and John’s many trips in the UK and abroad.
- When Glen brought me back to his home at Christmas in 1994, John and Wendy could not have been more welcoming, despite the intrusion of a stranger. Six months later, when I returned to Canada after my exchange year was over, it was Wendy who said, "It's ok, you'll be back". Wendy knew that Glen and I were going to be married 6 years before we did...and I think she eventually forgave us for our impromptu wedding, depriving her of a chance for a new outfit.
- Wendy loved the sun and the beach. Every summer got colder in Wendy's eyes and each was never warm enough!
- Wendy was so committed to her family, bringing together the gang for parties, bbqs, easter egg hunts, Christmas dinners... She absolutely adored everyone – especially her grandchildren whom she doted over and spoiled openly and proudly.

We love you Mum-Wendy-Nonna, and we miss you so much already.

That is so nice. Thank you. This will be here forever for us to look at.
Mum, my best friend, I miss you more than words can say.
Tonight one of your friends said "God takes the best ones first" and there is no-one better than our mum. I know I will think about you everyday and be talking to you for years to come. Life will never be the same again. We Love You so much Andrea, Shaun & Jess xxx

Team Canada & Team Japan are so sad! A few memories from across the Ocean:
- Wendy playing ring-around-the-rosie with Chihiro (her grand-daughter-in law from Japan)in our wee Cranberry Dr. condo: Who laughed the loudest, Wendy or Chi?
- introducing Wendy & John to Starbucks ~ Vancouver style
- Wendy's face, beaming with delight, when I walked into my surprise birthday party at The Smoking Dog (no doubt muttering to herself, "How could she possibly not have known?") Again, I confess to being so dim that I truly was surprised.
And then there was France:
-Wendy scrimmaging for the loot tossed into the streets by the tour cars for the Tour de France - great trinkets for all the grandchildren. - Wendy taking the stresses of piloting the boat down the canal in such good stride. Francie: "Wendy, John broke the boat!!" Wendy: "Ah well." (as she returned to reading her book).
We will miss you, Wendy. You are still with us, through your children and grandchildren, but it's not quite the same, is it?

Our thoughts are with you John, and with all of Wendy's family.

Love Francie, Lynn, Chris, Kumi, Chihiro, Ayano.

Happy Birthday Mum
3 weeks ago today you were taken from us, never to return. The last time I came to see you was 25th July & that was very difficult because I knew that I would never be able to see you again, touch your hair or stroke your face, that breaks my heart. Monday was so so sad but at the same time so very special. Everyone has so many fond memories of you & thought the world of you, who wouldnt. You were and always will be the most amazing mum-nonna in the world.
We Love You Always & Forever
