Hornby Island - Pilgrimage

It's not a quick trip. Several hours of driving + two ferries. Each way.
But the destination is super awesome. And the journey has its pluses too.
We love you Hornby Island!

Hornby Island Camping

Bread-on-a-stick, smores, birthday smores (go Koji!!!), pancake-chocolate balls (BB8s), popcorn, tacos-in-a-bag, beach combing, rock throwing, fire playing (the good kind), skin boarding, swinging, volley-balling ... it was an epic long weekend!

And spear fishing too!

Hornby Island Biking

What a cool gang we rode with this May Long Weekend.
 Loamy lush yumminess!

Some fun on our rest stops!

SMILE!!!

  • Solo adventure to YVR
  • Two nights with Nana
  • Braces off
  • Chewing gum party
= BIG news for Sav!

1. Before braces
 2. With braces
Leaving YYJ (still with braces:)
 3. Home, with a giant, flashy, white smile
Sav was such a trooper with her braces. It must have been 20 appointments. She took such great care of her teeth, always wore her head gear. She was a total champ for 16 months.

Sav was also the shirpa for a training kit from Nana for Pokemon for Mac. He'd been counting down the days for this grande prize.
Now we know the rules. Hit points. Damage. Weaknesses. Resistance. Potions. Trainers. Energy and Basic evolving to stage 1, 2, 3, EX/GX... It's keeping us on our toes!
Thanks for hosting Beast 1, and doing the double ortho trip, Nana!

Chez Roberts Beauty Spa and Cafe

French poetry.
Painted flowers.
Cappuccinos.
Chocolate pancakes.
A mud facial.
A manicure
AND a foot rub.
There's no where else to be.
A very happy mother's day to Nana, and all our mom friends.
And many sweet memories of Nonna/Wendy to share too.

Sooke Potholes and a Skinny Dipping Dob

Out in Sooke to cheer on Sav at her tournament, with a nature stop.

"Dob, come see this, I think you're gonna want to sw..."
Turn around.
See Dob, already undressing.

A Scot coaching baseball. Say what?

Yup.
Coach Dobson and a couple of the Diamond Backs.
"Bring it in to fourth base, Diamond backs!"
(It's called "home", Dob. At least the kids can tell him they run counter-clockwise.)

Birthday Girl on the Rock

It's 29 give or take a decade or two for this amazing woman.
We were so lucky to have time with Team V on the Island last week.
Happy Birthday, Lynn! xxxx
Just your average, normal, blah blah day in Victoria, in Uplands Park, amongst the Camas flowers, strolling the beach and eating outdoors for lunch. Whateves.

Weather check:

The average temperature in Oak Bay is 9.9 °C. In a year, the average rainfall is 669 mm.

The average temperature in Victoria is 9.8 °C. Precipitation here averages 718 mm.

In Vancouver, the average annual temperature is 9.9 °C. In a year, the average rainfall is 1283 mm

Sav on the Mound

Terrible pictures from the scorekeeping booth, I appreciate, but good on Sav for taking the mound for the first time and giving pitching a go*. Sav's had a few great plays in the field and a lovely hit so far. And she's having fun.

*more practice required:)

Broadway, with Savannah Skye Roberts

Last week, we were off to Willows Elementary to see Savvy and the rest of her grade 4/5 classes in the school show, Get on Board. The kids were cute and had worked their socks off for the big production. Sav was in the choir and played the mini speaking role of a mom, encouraging her famiy to "get on board" with the train ride across Canada (green dress).

(Creepy snake insisted upon by Mac, but stayed on my neck throughout the night. I forgot about it and now I think I might be marked as a giant weirdo by the other Willows parents.)

Whistler April 2017

Even the great ocean crossing couldn't keep us away from our annual retreat with awesome pals in Whistler.
Glen, with a striking resemblance to his Pop in both the sleeping pose above, and the jumper-by-the-fire-and-telescope below. He's also getting more and more belligerent in his old age.

We did some Mac Riding and skiing (tough life).

And we had some good old fashioned fun, mucking about!

Great weekend, with thanks to our hosts, chefs, a karaoke machine and awesome mates!
