A belated but wonderful celebration

Some of my favourite faces here during a lovely gathering chez Vij's last night. Blake brought the Vanier Cup to the table, a Cup he and his football team were about to win in Quebec City, just as Team Roberts was heading to the airport for Vietnam. An outstanding victory for the Thunderbirds!
A bit of YVR shameless star snapping by yours truly. Here is Vij himself greeting us at his new digs. Great choice in new location, Vij, only a few minutes walk from our home.

New Star Wars Character!?

January 2016

We are settling back in after our awesome adventure. Sav has done wonderfully at her new school and is back into her routine, although with a heavier heart than normal (ongoing renovations, homework sucks, loads of change...she seems more herself this week, thank goodness).
Here she is playing hide and go seek after piano lessons at the park. If it had been a smidge darker and she hadn't had on pink laces, maybe her camouflage idea would have been a go-er!?

Mac is loving his new room-- perfect space to enjoy his Christmas and Birthday toys.
He's also in the zone with his learning to read. Although who needs sitting up straight when sounding out 3 letter words?!

Metal Mouth

Kind of Darth Vader-ish with all the black and the shiny helmet. One day done, 364 to go.

A Few Little Extras from Our Trip to Japan

More from the stunning Izu Peninsula with Team Japan
Mac was well impressed that we were on volcanic rock, and that our onsen water was heated by a volcano.

MegaDob embarrassing himself with: a coke, potato chips, a rice roll from 7/11, and his pretty onsen-ing kimono.

A Few Little Extras from Our Trip to Vietnam

Now back at home, over the jet lag and enjoying going through our photos, we've found a few other special shots from our phones and from Sav's camera we wanted to share.
Sapa was such a great highlight. Here goes Sav running down the slope to catch up with A, our guide.

Our girl loves her bananas. Apparently, she says they were better/sweeter in Hanoi than Saigon (!?).

Temple fun.

This Ho Chi Minh museum was a bit of a bust, and Mac is still traumatised by our poor decision to take him with us to the mausoleum
Morning time. This was a familiar early morning view.

Wonderful swimming off the boat in Halong Bay.

Group shot at the top of the Halong Bay Mega Surprise Cave.
Hoi An rocked! The food, the buzz, the beaches...

You've seen Sav pre wave, but have you seen her stretching through the cap?
 The water buffalo. So peaceful.
 Sunset Mac Riding.
Good night Vietnam (again).

Kanayama Ascent & a Descent into.... CHILDREN'S WOLRD!!!!

We had a lovely hike up Kanayama. Some temple-ing, some moon/sun pooling, some castle-ing, and then... we descended down the other side of the hill to land in CHILDREN'S WORLD!!!!

All of a sudden, little people's legs were no longer tired, and we played until sun down. Hmmm.
Sukiyaki for New Years Eve tea.
Great day for wrapping up 2015.

Two more days, MegaDob, then those peace fingers get put back in the Dobbo holster until we are one day, again, back in Japan! Thank you Team Japan, for a wonderful visit.

Izu Peninsula-- Day Two

We had a lovely walk along the coast
