Family Fun

The whole family contributed to the posters we made to spruce up Savvy's room - a very good use of maternity leave indeed. Mac's role ... to sparkle like a diamond (yes, he's been covered in glitter for his full four weeks on planet earth - suspect this will continue for a good few years yet).

Here is symbol of the power Mac holds on the house. A giant bed -snapped by MegaDob this morning- but through the night as Mac edges his way over, wiggling and snuggling, I get smushed up to the very brink.

Three Babies Out for Lunch

Did you try your hardest? Did you learn something new? Did you have fun? HA!

Savvy scoffs at our chosen parenting techniques to focus on the process rather than the outcome. We try and try with the above questions but everything is still about a race and being the best. Sav stressed her value on winning when MegaDob set off for the Winter MegaDumyat night bike race. We explained that the competition was fierce, that the conditions were tricky, and that Mega hadn’t been practising as much as some of the others in his field. Savvy’s send off message:

“Wake me when you come home to tell me that you won”.

The translation: Only wake me if you win. Don’t even bother coming home if you don’t.

MegaD came fourth. Savvy was not impressed.

In other news of a baby nature, Mac has already outgrown his “newborn” clothes and is now filling out his 0-3 months. He’s generally a jolly fellow, falling into a nice wee routine. Last night he went from 11pm to 4am in his own cot. I think I am getting more sleep than I was in the last months of pregnancy (when I was getting almost none). I can’t believe Mac’ll be four weeks already this weekend.

The Perfect Man

And I don't mean the cutie above. I mean the one below - at the "librewery" with his kids after a nice ride, drinking manly beer and using his tough rugged leatherman ...
to help his daughter make her beautiful beaded bracelet.

Mac's first trip to the Librewery.

Two Weeks and the Two-Fingered Salute

Team Roberts in their jammies with Sav making sure Mac has his shot on the whoopee cushion - a full night of entertainment.

Mac at the two week mark is coming along nicely. Seems to be good on the sleeping and a solid wee eater (please continue with this Mac, pleeeeease).

He's lost his bib-free priviledges after a number of sniper projectile barf incidents and can be counted on to pee in the towel after every single bath but he's cute enough to get away with it (check him out in his Mackinley tartans below).

Where is he taking a stand? Mac has given a firm two fingers to the bottle. Made it out like we were torturing him and demanded the real deal. We shall persist so that MegaDad can do the dream feed at night.
Savvy was giving the two-fingered salute of her own for a long while to Dob's sand timer creation to get her eating on track at dinner. She could stretch out a slice of lasagna past the 90 minute mark and somehow magically make it out like everyone else was the distraction. Dinner time became a battle field so Dob focused Sav with the homemade sand timer prototype before going for a 30 minute off-the-shelfer. Sav went nuts but has slowly come round and is now beating "the clock" in order to leave time for afters and a good play before bed. Relief.

Four Generations

Great Grandma, Nonno, Auntie Andrea, Shaun and Jess make the trip to the Bridge. Lovely to have four generations in the flat!

Special Outfit for Special Visitors

Savvy put on a new combo of layers for our visitors yesterday - including magical accessories. The outfit was a real stormer. She also chooses Mac's clothes. Handy.

More time on the slopes

Our little munchkin has had more days on skis this season than MegaDob and I have combined over the past 10 years. Here's hoping for more snowy winters (and sunny summers?!?).

Sav rips it up on her sledge - fully independent and loving the speed.

Bye Bye "K"

We've discussed the important issue at length and have opted to drop the "k" in Mackinley's nickname.
Henceforth, he shall be baby Mac.

Brothers, Uncles, and Nephews

Great to have Uncle Rick and Uncle Chris (the British one) up for dinner. Mackinley behaved himself and was sweet and cute while Savvy rummaged through his treats and pressies for something that might pass as hers.

Thank you to everyone for all the lovely gifts you sent and thanks to Glen's brothers for making the trip... and for the cuddles for Sav's baby brother.

Dancer

Homework pressure has begun. Savvy is in charge of Dancer the donkey for one week and we need to keep a journal of all of their adventures. He's off to the pool with Dad and Savvy this morning. Next stop - dusty road.
