The Thistle and the Queen Meet the True North

It's official - wee Savvy is now Scottish-British AND Canadian.
Maple syrup pancakes with haggis and tea for everyone!

From Canada:
O Canada!
Our home and native land!
True patriot love in all thy sons (and daughters) command.
With glowing hearts we see thee rise,
The True North strong and free!
From far and wide,
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
God keep our land glorious and free!
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.

From Scotland:
O Flower of Scotland,
When will we see your like again
That fought and died for
Your wee bit hill and glen.
And stood against him,
Proud Edward's army,
And sent him homeward
Tae think again.

The hills are bare now,
And autumn leaves lie thick and still
O'er land that is lost now,
Which those so dearly held
That stood against him,
Proud Edward's army
And sent him homeward
Tae think again.

From Britain:
God save our gracious Queen!
Long live our noble Queen!
God save the Queen!
Send her victorious,
Happy and glorious,
Long to reign over us,
God save the Queen.

. . . - - - . . .

SOS! Mayday! Au secours!

You would think we should use our distress call last night due to the massive flooding from the extraordinary rain fall we are experiencing (will it ever stop!?).

Instead, we signal because we had a child with a pea up her nose.

She was so chuffed with herself as she jammed it up there: “Mommy, watch, watch – I put pea up nose!”

Equally pleased when MegaDad came home: “Daddy, I have pea up nose, look, look!”

There were head torches, tweezers, failed attempts jamming the pea higher up, and a giggling two and a half year old who loved every minute of the attention.

Dob had fears of heading to A&E and encountering a dr cox-like physician who would slate us for having dared to reproduce. I had fears that this would be the start of a new “look mommy, I have “blank” up my nose” phase.

Luckily, Dob retrieved said pea himself and, so far, Savage’s nose remains fruit and vegetable free.

Candlelight for the Little One

Sav's not the only one who insists on eating in style with the glow of a candle and her wine glass to hand.
The Roberts Parents were set loose on the town for the Commonwealth Games Awards Dinner last Saturday.
Our Inverurie Miley didn't win this year, but I reckon at the 2010 dinner after Delhi she'll be taking home a prize or two.

Trick or Treat

We had a great Halloween weekend in Kendal...
The rain stopped for the headless MegaDob to hit the streets with our clan for some trick or treating. It was crazy.
The kids had hot dogs and spider cakes and candy candy candy -
"I neeeeeeeeeeeed some more".
The adults had delicious tartiflette (some of us had thirds).
Great Grandma watched some dancing, but then was edged out for the Factor (sorry Grandma).
Thanks for hosting Auntie Andrea and thanks for having us Nonna and Nonno!

The kids and their loot. Sav of course took the time to claim an extra sweet for baby and was pretty chuffed to have storage in her burrowed stroller for the extra goods.
Dob pile!!!
Queen Jessie in her lovely room. Happy Birthday Jess!
