Sha Sha and Ty Join us in Peebles
The map says it all. Hard core riding in hard core weather.
...
And the boys went riding too. If that’s what you wanna call taking the uplift in the sun.
--------
We were very lucky to have Shark and Ty join us in Peebles - hopping up from London after a speaking engagement in Italy. We rode at Glentress and Inners and steam bathed at the Cardrona. It was good.
Sha and I had planned a more modest circuit on our second day, but actually managed to go extreme, passing wannabe hard cores at many a switch back and making an unexpected summit in style. An awesome video was staged at the top with funny banter and quip quip quip during horizontal rain and gale force winds. Alas, the video was lost (both the lost video and the summit due to human error).
Savvy, baby and Sage junior loved our wee chalet and its crazy stair case. During our outings, the three got passed about from café to café as we ran our necessary toddler management shift pattern. Sav played her part well – a handful of tantrums and some interesting potty training stunts, but enough cuteness to charm us all.
We finished with an October morning in Edinburgh. Would you believe the crazy canucks are coming back for a half marathon in May!? Their insanity is our good fortune!

Happy Bin Man
I collected the recycle box as normal today only to find a present from my bin men pals. Along with the conventional recycling of paper, glass, cans, plastic, compost, etc. after talking about it for a long time my bin men have come through, we now have a food waste caddy, we also get tetra paks recycling, along with batteries (although we always try to use re-chargables) and even weee. I was well chuffed. I seriously don't know what we're going to put in the conventional bin now - my work here is done.

More Bridges for Loch Cockburn
A lovely Saturday for trail building in Mine Woods and at Loch Cockburn, and all done for less than a half penny. MegaD provided the design and labour, Sav provided the entertainment, and I brought snacks and tools.
Savvy gets more confident on the new swamp crossing skinny.
Mom and Sav checking out tadpoles and fish, just like in Totoro.
Mom in her new merino fleece from Howies, celebrating success at the four week mark of a cross atlantic pact to eat more healthy(ish).

Savvy at 2.5
Two days ago, Savvy turned two and a half. Here's the latest:
- She is talking in full sentences
- She is dreaming ... and has nightmares too :(
- She has more winter coats than SJP
- She is a very very good climber
- She likes to build towers, sing abcs, and play "hoard the toys"
- She asks three lovely questions when we arrive home from work:
"did you have fun at work?"
"did you play with toys?"
"were you a good girl?"
"did you play with toys?"
"were you a good girl?"
- She is the biggest Daddy's girl ever as evidenced by the lookalike baby shots below
