Glasgow Science Centre

Still a little too old for Savvy, but just right for MegaDob!

200 Trees

In spring 2007, only 2+ year ago, wee Ella was pictured in the front yard as we were planting some 200 trees, nothing but wee sticks at the time. The trees are coming along nicely, no!?
An aside, Mhari and Sav yesterday - MegaDad did the solo double sleepover babysit. My hero!

One Stone at a Time

At long last renovations to Stanley House are underway. At a billion £s a block and with a lot of skill required, it could take a while for Martin the stone mason to replace each stone. But the work is much needed - over a 100 years of rain and wind, some dodgy "cement cover" short cuts and a whole bunch of neglect means the old school is crumbling.

Ode to Stephen (and Moyee too)

A morning of digging and stick throwing with MegaDob, Stephen (aka MegaSmith) and "Moyee" in Mine Woods. Stephen and Moira are some of Savvy's favourite friends. Sav passed the baby pram to Stephen; he passed it back...it was love at first sight.

I hope you are safe in your family tree

Zucchini and the Farm

This picture highlights the successful zucchini from the garden. We picked a big one (a really REALLY big one) for dinner and a little one for sav.
This picture highlights sav's insistance that little 'cchini participate in the rest of the day's activity. I wish I could say it was one of the weirder things she's insisted upon.
Briarlands farm. We're definitely buying a season's pass.

Aviemore

Camping bliss in Aviemore. Harvey and Sav had good times on their four wheelers and two wheelers. Bike rides and walks and stone throwing. Leslie dog warms by the fire. A stop in Lagaan on the way home. Very nice trails. Very nice September sun.

Canada 2009: Introduction

Nana welcomed Team Japan and Team Scotland into her downtown flat. Lynn joined for swimming, dinners and other family fun. Everyone cooked. Nana babysat (merci!). And we all had loads of fun.

Surprise Birthday Party for Nana chez Lynnie (hello long island ice tea, my old friend).

Canada 2009: Art Camp with Lynnie

Chi and Aya managed to lay still for ages in order for Lynnie to help them make masks (Sav didn't participate...). There was plastering, drying, sanding, lacquering, sketching, and painting. The masks were beautiful.

Canada 2009: Vancouver Part Un

We had a great first week in Vancouver. Sav recovered from her jet lag after two or three nights. She kept up her not-so-silent objection to shoes for the duration of the holiday. She rejected her prior toilet training. And she kind of stopped eating.
Team Japan were a joy to hang out with. Funny funny lovely children. Thank you to Chi and Aya for taking such good care of Savvy.

Canada 2009: Seachelt - the Land Between Two Waters

Ty and Sha had us over to stay in Ty's parents' amazing seaside cabin (and we got to see their sweet piece of land too). Savvy still talks about riding on Ty's boat and catching and eating crabs. Unfortunately, she keeps saying, "got crabs, got crabs". Cday brought over Griff and while he was a rubbish rubbish sleeper, he was so so cute.

Sha Sha gives Sav a shake

Savage on the rare occasion when she would share her Dad.

Some of our 10 crab catch (poachers took the others). Soon to be delicious crab cakes.

Canada 2009: The Land Between Two Waters... But in the Water

Sha Sha, Princess Buttercup, and Prince Feathers all take to the sea. PB was kayak escort as we looped around a near by island (she's in the shade on the right). Not so far away, but tougher than usual after un verre de vin.

Jacques-Yves Cousteau (also known as Ty, pictured far right) took Dob and I 90 feet underwater for a lovely ship wreck dive...an old battleship and all of the surrounding wildlife to explore. Some ear trouble and a bit of breathing-under-water paranoia, but Jacques was cool with a slooooooooow descent and I made it back in one piece.
Ok, so the Griff and Sage aren't "in" the water, but close...

Canada 2009: Whistler

Whistler with Alex and Joe (pictures to follow). Everything Whistler should be: Riding, wake surfing, crack the egging, and a very very short canoe ride. Followed by a bonus Sha Sha dinner and Olympic Village walk with Haman and Calder.
